2008 DIVISIONS & DESCRIPTIONS
Men’s/Dad’s
All Dads and adult men are invited to play in this division, which may include high school and college-age players. Score will be kept and teams will be placed in a “two-game guarantee” bracket. Games are first team to 11 by 1’s & 2’s (all made baskets counting as just one point and made three-point long shots counting for 2 points) or 15-minute time cap – which ever comes first. 1st & 2nd Place trophies awarded to the winners.
Women’s/Mom’s
This division is for the mom who wants to have some fun, get some exercise and meet some new friends. Coach Kraig or other NVA staff will help ref and run these games – so if you’re a little worried you don’t know all the rules - DON’T WORRY- we’ll be there to help keep things “under control”. Score will be kept and teams will be bracketed in a “two-game guarantee” format. Games are first team to 11 by 1’s & 2’s (all made baskets counting as just one point and made three-point long shots counting for 2 points) or 15-minute time cap – which ever comes first. "Top Finisher" event glass awarded to 1st & 2nd place
Kid’s Competitive: Boys & Girls Divisions- Grades 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8
For children currently playing in NVA, school leagues or travel teams in grades 3 thru 8. Score will be kept and teams will be placed in a ‘two-game guarantee” bracket. Games are first team to 11 by 1’s & 2’s (all made baskets counting as just one point and made three-point long shots counting for 2 points) or 15-minute time cap – which ever comes first. 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd Place trophies awarded to the winners. NVA coaches or volunteers will help ref all games 6 th grade or younger.
Kid’s MMCF Basketball Themed Carnival (kids 4 yrs+)
For kids ages 4 + and young at heart 3 on 3 players, we’ll have a variety of basketball-theme carnival games with great prizes. In addition to the games & prizes, we’ll also have a balloonist, magician and two moon jumps this year!. All kids get an MMCF keepsake t-shirt & other great basketball giveaways.
NVA Alumni Division
If possible, we’ll place former NVA high school age-players in the NVA Alumni division. If we are not able to offer sufficient competition in this new division, NVA Alumni will be placed in Dad’s or Mom’s divisions.
The MMCF 3-Point Shoot Tournament
So, you don’t want to play 3 on 3 games but would still like to compete in the day’s event. Now, the perfect answer! From 12:00 noon till 1:30 PM, come shoot a rack of 15 basketballs. (No sweat required) Just like the NBA All Star festivity events, players will shoot a rack of basketballs from 5 spots on the floor. Top 8 qualifiers from 4 different age categories will then battle it out in a head-to-head competition on the main court at 2:30 PM.
